The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of a structure from a polymer, a plastic, an elastomer or from a mixture of these materials, and to a product obtained thereby. The method is based on the selective chemical modification of the surfaces of the component parts of the structure. Such selective chemical modification of the surface takes place, for example, by means of light-emitting marking particles. The invention is applied to the manufacture of structures, including interior construction, medical, plant protection and forensic applications.
2. Description of the Related Art
The use of marking particles in the manufacture of structures from plastic, rubber and elastomers is known. For example, JP-A-H2-251782 discloses the use of tracer particles for marking the positions of a chain of fabric pieces of an article of clothing. JP-A-H2-275689 discloses a process in which elastomeric pieces and particles of a marking composition are bonded together by means of an adhesive in order to provide for a marking composition with decorative markings. The elastomeric pieces and particles are bonded together by means of a layer of radiation-curable adhesive, and are then cured by means of a photocuring process. EP-A-0207289 discloses a method of printing in which liquid adhesive is applied to a support, and in which an image-forming composition is applied to the adhesive. The composition comprises a polymer, a liquid photosensitive compound, and a pigment. The composition is heated to effect a curing of the liquid photosensitive compound, and a pigment is caused to precipitate on the surface of the support, the surface of the support being wetted by the liquid adhesive. The invention is based on the use of a liquid adhesive in order to effect a bonding between the components parts of a structure.
The invention provides for a method of manufacturing a structure in which two or more components parts are joined together by means of a polymer, a plastic, an elastomer or from a mixture of these materials, characterized in that the surfaces of the components parts to be bonded are modified by means of a marking composition.
